When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and password. Your password is securely hashed — we never store it in plain text and cannot view it.

Submission Data

When you submit a selfie to an event, we collect:

• The photo itself
• EXIF metadata embedded in the photo, including timestamp (DateTimeOriginal) and camera information
• Any caption you provide with your submission

Location Data

If you grant permission, we collect GPS coordinates, city, and country information from your photo's EXIF data or your device's location services. Location data is always optional — you can participate in events without sharing your location.

Technical Data

We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, including your IP address, browser type and version, device information, and pages visited.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Display your submissions in public event galleries alongside other participants
• Verify photo timestamps using EXIF data to ensure submissions fall within the event window
• Send push notifications about upcoming events, if you have opted in
• Improve the Service, fix bugs, and develop new features
• Communicate with you about your account or the Service

3. What We Share

• Watermarked versions of your photos are publicly visible in event galleries — this is the core purpose of the Service
• We may feature submissions on our social media channels (Twitter/X, Instagram) with attribution to your username
• We do not sell your personal information to third parties, ever
• Original, unwatermarked versions of your photos are stored privately on our servers and are never shared publicly or with third parties

4. EXIF Data

When you submit a photo, we read the EXIF metadata embedded in the image file. Specifically, we use:

• DateTimeOriginal — to verify that the photo was taken within the event's 2-minute window
• GPS data — to optionally display your location on the event gallery map

This data is used solely for timestamp verification and optional location display. EXIF data is stripped from the publicly displayed watermarked versions of your photos, so other users cannot access your photo's metadata.

5. Data Retention

• Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active
• Submissions are retained in event galleries unless you specifically request deletion
• You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us

When you request account deletion, we will remove your account information and all associated submissions within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Opt out of push notifications at any time through your browser or device settings
• Request a complete export of your data in a portable format

7. Security

We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it. These include password hashing using modern algorithms, encrypted data transmission via HTTPS, secure session management, and regular security reviews. While no system is perfectly secure, we are committed to protecting your information to the best of our ability.

8. Children

Our Selfie Moments is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
